If your older home has boiler heating, then installing a typical, central air conditioning system will be difficult. Mitsubishi split systems don’t involve ducts. Instead, you have an outdoor compressor and air handlers that are installed through your walls. The air handlers blow cool air directly into your space. Split systems are energy-efficient, affordable, and eco-friendly. Since the air handlers are placed high up on your walls, they should not get in the way.
If you have an older electric furnace, you’re probably tired of sky-high energy bills. Replacing it with a heat pump can be a good option. A heat pump doesn’t burn fuel. Instead, it moves heat. In the summer, it moves heat from inside your home, out. And in the winter, it moves heat from outside, in.
Upgrading to a heat pump means you only need one piece of equipment instead of a separate furnace and AC unit. This can save space in older homes with smaller basements and crawl spaces. Maybe your older air conditioner is still working, but it’s been using a lot of energy lately. A tune-up may help improve its performance until you’re ready to replace it. During a tune-up, a technician will clean essential components, lubricate moving parts, and tighten anything that’s loose.
